UPDATE, on small-town life in Tennessee!

I forgot to mention in my last post, concerning small-town life and how rising taxes are making it more and more expensive to live there, the following, surprising (to me, at least) fact:
TENNESSEE IS ONLY 1 OF 4 STATES THAT PRACTICES FORCED ANNEXATION!!!
North Carolina, Tennessee, Idaho and Kansas are the only states where annexation without the property owner's consent is permitted. Louisiana, Illinois and Oregon allow it in limited cases.
Now, to think that 46 OTHER states do NOT practice forced annexation is troubling, in that Tennessee is one of 4 states that think they have the right to force a property owner to be annexed into a city, even if the property owner does not wish to be. Of course, the primary reason for annexation into a city is to increase tax revenue.
